Demonstration Unit at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ujwa
Established in the year 2018 in 50 Sq. meter area consist of Insect proof net houses with the objective to provide quality plants and planting material to farmers and for KVK farm.
Established in the year 2016 in 30 sq. meter area by financial assistance of ICAR has a facility of pakka shed and beds. The unit fulfills the organic farming concept of Government of India. The cow/buffalo dung is converted into fertilizer using species of earthworm in single batch. KVK through this demonstration unit and extension activities is popularizing this concept of vermicomposting.
Bee Keeping Unit
A 10 boxes apiculture demonstration unit exist at KVK farm since 2018. KVK advocates the role of honey bees in agriculture and income generation by honey production. Honey bees helps in pollination of different cross pollinated crops thereafter increases the crop production.
The unit was established at 25 sq. meter area with financial assistance from ICAR. The Azolla demonstration unit provides information to the farmers about Azolla uses as it contains 20-25% protein on dry weight basis, rich in almost all essential amino acids, Vit. A, Vit. B-complex, beta-carotene and minerals. It is an ideal feed for animals/poultry as a concentrate substitute.
Established in year 1998 in 250 sq. meter area by financial assistance of Govt. of NCT of Delhi as a demonstration cum production unit. Different edible mushrooms are cultivated depending on temperature and climatic conditions. The mushrooms are consumed by humans for their nutritional and medicinal value.
The cultivation of Napier grass at KVK farm as Fodder demonstration unit started with aim to provide farmers rearing dairy animals a perennial grass/fodder available through out the year. It is also called as Elephant Grass due to its tallness and vigorous vegetative growth. It has nutritive value as dry matter (16-20%), crude protein (9.38%), calcium (0.88%), phosphorus (0.24%), oxalates (2.97%), and digestibility (58.00%). It is juicer, succulent at all stages of growth and can be retained on field for 2-3 years.
Established in 1 acre area in the year 2018 consist of Kinnow plants.
Water Harvesting Unit:
Water harvesting in its broadest sense can be defined as the “collection of runoff water for its productive use”. Runoff water may be harvested from roofs and ground surfaces as well as from intermittent or ephemeral water courses. Water harvesting techniques, which harvest runoff from roofs or ground surfaces fall under the term “Rainwater Harvesting”. The 200 sq. meter water harvesting unit was established in the year 2017 by financial assistance of ICAR at KVK farm at a point where water from catchment area gathers and the structure is filled in single rain. This structure holds enough water for the need of farm. The rainwater harvesting structure is serving as a demonstration as well as motivation unit for the farmers of surrounding villages and district area.
Drip Irrigation System:
Established in the year 2019 at 2 acre land to utilize the irrigation water in proper way at KVK farm so that farmers can see and implement the technology at their own farm.
