About KVKs
The first KVK was established in March, 1974 at Puducherry in India. The number of KVKs has risen to 731. The KVK scheme is 100% financed by Govt. of India. KVK, is an integral part of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS), which aims at the assessment of location-specific technology modules in agriculture and allied enterprises, through technology assessment, refinement and demonstrations. KVKs have been functioning as a Knowledge and Resource Centre of agricultural technology supporting initiatives of the public, private and voluntary sectors for improving the agricultural economy of the district and linking the NARS with the extension system and farmers.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ujwa, New Delhi working under the aegis of Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India & National Horticultural Research & Development Foundation, New Delhi for effective transfer of agricultural technologies and emphasizing on technological and economic empowerment of farm men & women using participatory approaches since 1995. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Delhi was established in February 1995 at Nafed Complex, V&P. Ujwa, Nazafgarh, South-West District, Delhi -110 073.
Location of KVK
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ujwa, Delhi is located in the NAFED Complex at Ujwa village. It is located 50 km from the headquarters of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Pusa, New Delhi, 36 km from Indira Gandhi Airport (IGA) and 28 km from Delhi Cantt Railway Station. About NHRDF
The National Horticultural Research and Development Foundation (NHRDF) was established by the National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) on 3 November, 1977 under Societies Registration Act, 1860 at New Delhi. The Head Office & Registered Office of NHRDF is in New Delhi. The establishment of NHRDF aimed to guide the farmers, exporters and others concerned with improving the productivity and quality of horticultural crops to make available sufficient quantity for domestic requirements and also to boost up export of onion and other such export-oriented horticultural crops in the country. Onion was the first crop on which the NHRDF started its Research and Development programmes to meet the above-mentioned aim and subsequently garlic, okra, chilli, French bean crops etc. have been added. The NHRDF initially started as a small centre in New Delhi in 1978 and now it has 5 Regional Research Stations, Laboratories on different aspects and 18 Extension Centres spread all over the major onion and garlic growing pockets of the country. It has also established one Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Ujwa in New Delhi to cater for the needs of farmers of Delhi State.
