Demonstration Unit at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ujwa

Field Crop Cafeteria

Crop cafeteria is the demonstration of identified efficient crops in an agro-metrological region offering an opportunity to the farmers to select a suitable crop/ cropping system.  In this cafeteria, newly released improved varieties of different field crops/ horticultural crops are grown  in  3   seasons ( Kharif /Rabi/ zaid). The details of various technologies are given below-

(A) New released improved varieties 

 Wheat- HD 3226, DBW222, DBW 187, HD 3086, HD 2967 with the object to see the performance of varieties in NCT Delhi.

  • The performance of wheat varieties was good under drip system.
  • Farmer also adopting these varieties in their cropping system, KVK also doing seed production and selling to the farmers.

(B) New released improved varieties Mustard 

Mustard like Giriraj, RH749, RH725, Pusa Vijay was conducted at KVK campus to assess the performance in NCT Delhi. A mass of farmer appreciated all the varieties as per their need

  • Farmer also adopting these varieties in their cropping system.
  • KVK also doing seed production and selling to the farmers.
Vegetable Cafeteria
 

(A) Onion & Garlic varieties

KVK conducted the demonstrations of onion (varieties NHRDF Red, NHRDF Red-3, NHRDF Red-2 & ALR) and garlic (varieties- G-1, G-41, G-50, G-189,G-386,G-282 & G-323) under drip system with mulch. Farmer appreciates this technology for adoption in their fields.

 

(B) Demonstrations of Potato varieties

KVK conducted the demonstrations of potato varieties (Kufri Mohan, Kufri Garima, Kufri Gorav, Kufri Neelkanth & Kufri Ganga) under drip system with mulch. Farmer appreciates this technology for adoption in their fields.

 

(C) Demonstrations on resources conservation

KVK assess the performance of onion and garlic crops under mulch, no mulch condition under raised bed condition. The yields of crop was  very good under mulch condition with raised bed planting.

Nutritional Garden

 

(A) Kitchen Garden of seasonal vegetables-

KVK design a kitchen garden in KVK campus with the object to getting the seasonal nutritious vegetables that could fulfill the daily need of farmers by different nature vegetables. Farmer also adopting this system in their villages.

 

(B) Kinnow Orchard

Kinnow (Var. Punjab Kinnow) orchard was developed to demonstrations with inter cropping like gram and mustard.   A large number of farmers are seeing and adopting this cultivation system in their fields.

 

(C) Drumstick orchard

Drumstick (Var.- PKM-1) orchard developed by KVK for promotion of drumstick in NCT Delhi.  Drumstick has the medicinal properties and liking at large scale. KVK also providing the seedling of drumstick to the farmers.

(D) Aonla& Beal orchard

Aonla and Beal orchard developed by KVK for promotion in salinity condition NCT Delhi. Total 04 varieties Anola (NA-6, NA-7, NA-5, Chakiya)& 2 varieties of Beal (Var.- Beal-1 & Beal-2) are demonstrated.

(C) Bee Keeping Unit

Boxes : 30 Boxes
Brief Description : For skill development training and honey production
Capacity of Production : 3.0q / Season
 

(D) Nursery Unit

Area : 50 m2
Brief Description : Various seedling preparation of crop like Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Tomato, Chilli, Brinjal, Bottle Gourd etc.

(E) Vermi Compost (Commercial)

Area : 50m2
Production Capacity / annuam : 150-200 q.

(F) Organic Produce Unit

Area : 50 M2
Brief Description : For skill development training and organic product preparation

Soil &Water Testing

 
  • A large number of farmers are benefited from this laboratory in following ways-
  • Soil Analysis leads to more informed fertilizer decisions, reducing risks in the soil such as soil erosion, soil infertility and degraded lands and increasing farm profitability in the long-term.
  • Reveals the amount of plant-available macro-nutrients in the soil and where soil nutrients are in the soil profile.

Mushroom Span Unit

  The size of the mushroom spawn laboratory is 30 x 36 ft. The mushroom spawn production capacity in KVK Mushroom Span Laboratory is one and half quintal per day. Button Mushroom, Oyster Mushroom, Milky Mushroom and Medicinal Mushroom spawn are made scientifically in this laboratory. This is distributed to the farmers all over India as per the requirement.

Other Demonstration Units

 

(A) Insect Proof Net House

KVK has insect proof net house for production of seedling of various crops and timely supply to the farmers.

Farmers also adopting this technology after seeing Insect proof net house.

 

(B) Low Cost Poly Tunnel

Plastics tunnel popularly known as low tunnels are miniature structures producing greenhouse like effect. These tunnels facilitate the entrapment of carbon dioxide, thereby enhancing the photosynthetic activities of the plant that help to increase yield. Farmer also adopting this technology and getting more benefits.

 

(C) Azolla Unit

KVK has a Azolla unit at its campus for promotion the Azolla cultivation in NCT Delhi and for demonstration purpose. Farmers are also doing Azolla cultivation for Animals, Poultry and rice fields.

 

(D) Roof Water harvesting Pond

A model of water storage is in KVK campus that is useful to conserve runoff water from Building.  Farmers also adopting this type of water storage and using water in the crops.

Capacity – 2.50 lakh litre

 

(E) Drip Irrigation System

Drip irrigation is the most efficient water and nutrient delivery system for growing crops. In Krishi Vigyan Kendra 1.00 hectare is covered by Drip Irrigation.

 

(F) Farm Mechanization Unit

KVK has different machineries Like Happy seeder, Zero tillage, Ratavator, Mulcher etc. under CRM project. Farmers are using them free of cost for managing rice residue in the fields and sowing the crops.
